Eight of Greensmith’s fourteen customers are electric utilities seeking innovative solutions to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of their generation fleet. These customers have sought out advanced energy storage systems to improve their customer’s power quality and improve grid stability.
Greensmith’s turn-key energy storage systems are modular and scalable from 5 kWh to MWh systems. Utility customers may locate one large system at a site of their choice (i.e. next to large-scale renewable projects), or build a distributed system across strategic nodes in their grid. Such distributed systems may be deployed together for one purpose, or individually with each unit devoted to it’s own function.
The standard BOS3 software package supports the following applications:
- Renewable Integration
- Ancillary Services, including frequency regulation, reactive power, and voltage control
- Peak shifting
Large-scale systems (starting at PowerVault 150 and above) are generally housed in 20 or 40 foot shipping containers, and include all of the components of the standard DESS, including Greensmith BOS3 and standard software package.
